Giving Back and Giving Thanks

The holiday spirit is in the air and preparations are underway in anticipation of Thanksgiving. According to LiveScience.com, in the year 2011, the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner in for 10 is a little under $50. The price may seem small compared to the average grocery bill, but there are many people who are unable to afford weekly groceries alone.

The Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin has been around since 1968 and continues to provide packaged meals to over 1,000 people from Stockton and the San Joaquin County every day. They not only provide meals, but also family services including education classes on nutrition and food preparation. On November 22, 2012,the emergency ood bank will be hosting the 8th Anuual Run and Walk Against Hunger. The proceeds directly benefit the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin so that they may continue to assist those in need.

If you want to get some great cardio exercise before Thanksgiving dinner, register and join over 4,000 other runners today! The run will begin at the Stockton Ballpark/Arena and end at the downtown Stockton Waterfront.

Details regarding the event can be found on StocktonLive and the official Run Against Hunger page.

Hope to see you there!
